
Primary amyloid myelopathy is a rare neurological disorder characterized by the accumulation of amyloid proteins in the spinal cord. This progressive condition typically manifests with progressive sensory disturbance in the limbs, often accompanied by ataxia. In this case report, we present a subject with primary amyloid myelopathy who presented with an unusual clinical scenario.
The subject's initial symptoms included severe weakness in the upper extremities, along accompanied by bladder dysfunction. Analysis of cerebrospinal fluid revealed elevated protein levels suggesting amyloid deposits. Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) demonstrated characteristic lesions in the spinal cord consistent with primary amyloid myelopathy.
The patient was treated supportive care, including physical therapy and medications to manage symptoms. Nevertheless treatment, the patient's condition deteriorated significantly. This case highlights the importance of considering primary amyloid myelopathy in the differential diagnosis of patients presenting with progressive neurological symptoms, particularly those with asymmetric limb involvement.
An Uncommon Presentation of Crohn's Disease: A Case Report
We present a rare case of Crohn's disease library open access in a 42-year-old female presenting with atypical symptoms. The patient initially complained symptoms of fatigue, which were initially attributed a common gastrointestinaldisorder. Further investigation revealed crohn's disease. The patient was treated with conventional treatment for Crohn's disease, including anti-inflammatory medications. The outcome to treatment was favorable.
This case highlights the importance of a comprehensive assessment in patients with suspected Crohn's disease, as its manifestations can be varied.
Findings
A male/female patient presented to the clinic with a chief complaint/history of symptoms/presenting concern of progressive shortness of breath, cough/dyspnea/respiratory distress. The patient reported a gradual/sudden/insidious onset of symptoms/complaints/manifestations, worsening over the past few months/year/decade. On physical examination, auscultation/palpation/inspection revealed decreased breath sounds in the lower/upper/bilateral lung fields.
Further/Additional/Supplementary investigations included a chest X-ray which demonstrated diffuse/patchy/interstitial opacities consistent with pulmonary fibrosis. A high-resolution computed tomography (HRCT) scan of the chest confirmed the diagnosis, revealing honeycombing/fibrotic bands/reticular opacities.
The patient underwent further tests/evaluation/assessments to rule out other potential causes/contributing factors/underlying conditions of pulmonary fibrosis.
